Job description

Join our family-driven hotel at Van der Valk Brussels Airport, where teamwork, quality and a warm atmosphere come together. We are looking for a motivated Sous Chef to strengthen our kitchen team.

  • Support the Head Chef in the daily management of the kitchen and lead the kitchen team

  • Coordinate mise-en-place, service and post-service operations

  • Contribute to menu creation and ensure accurate cost control

  • Plan and organize kitchen activities to ensure smooth service

  • Guarantee the quality, taste and presentation of all dishes

  • Train, coach and motivate kitchen staff

  • Manage ordering, stock control and deliveries in collaboration with Cost Control

  • Ensure compliance with HACCP, hygiene and safety standards

  • Maintain efficient communication with the restaurant and other departments

Job requirements

  • Proven experience as Sous Chef or strong Chef de Partie ready for the next step

  • Strong leadership and coaching skills

  • Well-organized with excellent planning abilities

  • Good knowledge of HACCP and food safety standards

  • Hands-on, stress-resistant and solution-oriented mindset

  • Strong team player with clear communication skills

  • Flexible availability (morning, evenings and weekends)

  • Fluent in English; French is a strong plus
